Warning: Low Mojo………………

Friday, May 13th, 2011

I should be writing more often; there’s so much that’s happened. Right now though, I really can’t seem to be motivated.

Oh well, hope it changes soon……………………..

Deniz Kurtel – One Fo’ The Ladies….

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Just got round to buying DJmag & reading a piece on Producer/artisan Deniz Kurtel & I got thinking: despite the moves made in the industry, the democrotising power of The Web, people (mostly blokes) STILL seem to view women mixer/producers with a blend of resentment, suspicion & incredulity:

WHY?

Throughout the ages, women have challenged convention to assert their right to be treated & judged on their merits – what they DO not what/who they are. Does the extra testosterone make it impossible for guys to comprehend women are capeble of  of creative/technical acheivment?

George Sands, Ida Lupino, Gail ‘Sky’ King, Liesl Meitner all example of women who excelled in their chosen field – and struggled against blatant discrimiation.

I’m not trying to be ‘rairly cool, yar’, I’m often swayed by appearances (in a broad sense of ‘first impressions’, however I do that regardless of gender) but as far as I’m concerned it’s how you throw down as a DJ/Produced/writer rather than if you have a Y-chromosome.

The fact that it’s STILL an issue is rather depressing. This is however, offset by women just going for it regardless.

Hi, I’m Back!!

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Well, it’s been intense, harrowing & dramatic, but both the wife & I are still here: thanks again to family & friends.

I’m trying to get back to life & as such, there’s some new mixes up:

taken from a mixtape I did during a bout of insomnia during the late 90’s are the Late NightSessions

Enjoy…..
